A Milestone for Grendel

Tonight Grendel was romping around in the house with a rubber jingle ball. He let me reach into his mouth and take it away from him. He made no protest and showed no resentment at all, and I didn't even have anything to trade.

Here is a picture taken just before our walk this evening. He is roaming free around the yard with no longe line.

The heat and humidity has been my ally, I think, but he has calmed down immeasurably since his arrival here.

What a good boy. My dogs are so different from one another, my oldest girl Kate loves playing with balls and sticks and whatever you'll tease her with, but she refuses to share. She used to growl and get protective when others tried to join in, now she just drops it and comes sulking back to me for a reassuring pat. I know it's not good for dogs to be protective of their toys but she means no harm it's just her way of bonding with humans so she wants to hang onto it. Cna't blame the poor old girl. I won't allow the pups to fight over stuff, double standards...yep but it works in the long run. Pecking order and all.
